Disposable Pulse Oximetry SpO2 Sensor Directions
DIRECTIONS
1. Depending on the patient, choose the most appropriate monitoring
site.
2. Remove the backing from the adhesive part of the sensor.
3. Apply the sensor to the top side of the finger/toe so that the cable
lies on top of the finger or toe and the sensing element lies at the
base (just below the cuticle) of the finger/toenail. Fold the sensor
over so that it wraps around the finger/toe and the bottom portion
joins the excess adhesive from the top. Wrap excess adhesive around the
finger/toe.
4. Measure pulse oximetry according to the instructions and cautions in
the pulse oximeter user‘s manual and this instruction sheet.
CAUTIONS
1. Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a
physician.
2. Do not squeeze or wrap the sensor too tightly. This may compromise
skin circulation or cause injury to the skin.
3. Check the digit every few hours to make certain that circulation is
normal. If any doubt exists about the circulation, remove the sensor
and use a new sensor at a different location.
4. Avoid placing the sensor onto an extremity with a blood pressure
cuff or arterial or venous catheter.
5. In the presence of very bright light sources the sensor site must be
covered with an opaque material. Failure to do so may result in
inaccurate measurements.
6. Foot/hand movement or low perfusion may cause inaccurate
measurements.
7. Dependent positions of an extremity may compromise venous return and
lower saturation measurements. Therefore, the sensor is best kept at
heart level.
